JUNIOR ON THE RISE!

Robert Skolik
On this page, we  highlight a Junior Player who has a strong desire to learn, is committed to Tournament Play,
and competes at 100%.

Robert Skolik, of southeast hills area of Huntington WV, is the #1 Singles player for the Beverly Hills Middle School Team.  He has been hitting with head pro Josh Whitman in the Top Gun Program.   He started out in our Rallyball program 3 years ago and has progressed to being in the Top 20 of the OVTA rankings.

When did you start playing tennis?  When I was in the 5th grade.

How many times a week do you play?  6 to 7.

What racquet do you use?  Prince O3 Tour Midsize.

What is considered to be your weapon?
  High forehand.

What is your favorite shot?  Inside out forehand winner.

What is your best tennis memory so far in your young tennis career?  Winning a 3 hour match in Charleston, WV for the final.

Who is the pro player who best sypmbolizes your game?  David Nalbandian.

What are your goals?  I'd like to get a National Ranking.  I'd like to be in the top 100 of the Midwest rankings.  And, I'd like to get a sponsorship.

Coach Josh's thoughts?  "Robert is a well rounded player.  To get to a high Midwest level or National level, he will have to compete in higher level tournaments  He'll have to get consistency in every shot so he'll have little weakness to be attacked.  And of course, to keep working hard!"
Keep up the good work, Robert!

Robert as the Cabell County Middle School #1 singles player in 2006.
